Role:   

We are now looking for a person with relevant experience in quality assurance coming from a  composite and manufacturing environment, with a deep understanding of testing, inspectionoverall quality assurance and certification of products, for our composite research and development activities in Portugal. This role is based in our Portuguese entity in Viana do Castelo where you will take the main responsibility for all local composite development and manufacturing quality assurance. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Define and maintain quality documentation, including test plans for prototype certification, materials, product, and system acceptance. 
  • Ensure that during the manufacturing process and product design reviews, all related quality considerations are well defined and documented in quality and inspection plans.  
  • Prepare documentation and reports for certifying third parties and other stakeholders. 
  • Work closely with designers and manufacturing engineers to develop test plans and quality assurance solutions.  
  • Ensure production materials and components meet engineering and system requirements.  
  • Execute first article inspection of subcontracted parts or assemblies. 
  • Inspection and qualification of internally manufactured parts and final assemblies throughout all stages of manufacturing     
  • Work where necessary, with other functions, to assist in achieving overall project objectives. 

 

Skills and qualifications: 

  • Proven hands-on quality assurance experience in composite manufacturing environment. 
  • In depth understanding of the testing, inspection, quality issues and certification of composite parts, components, and structures (sandwich construction knowledge is a plus). 
  • Advanced problem solving, including analysing, investigating, following up and relentless root cause analysis skills.  
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings, schematics, and composite manufacturing specifications. 
  • Capable of writing technical documents aimed at qualification of prototypes and product design, including test protocols, test reports and all product traceability documentation. 
  • Working understanding of assembly methods, fixtures, tooling, and fabrication methods.  
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, physical science or proven professional equivalent experience in quality assurance of large and complex composite structures.  
  • More than 5 years experience at a high-end composite manufacturing related company (Wind Energy, Aeronautics, Aerospace, Yacht Racing building, etc.).
